Jesus Is Risen
-
Right early that first Easter Morning,
Beside Herself with grief.
Mary Magdaline discovered the stone missing,
And thought It the work of a thief.
-
So she legged It back to tell Simon Peter.
And the other one that Jesus loved.
"They've taken the Lord and they've hidden Him".
"And the big stone they haven't half shoved".
-
So both of them there, set off running.
Old John, he ran faster than Pete.
'Cos he just had to get there first like.
And. he didn't have Air Jordans on his feet.
-
Well, he bobbed down as If to go in like
And he saw the strips of cloth lying there.
But he never went into the tomb yet.
And that had nothing to do with fear.
-
Simon Peter, he caught up quite quick like.
And he upped and went straight on in.
And old John. well he went in and joined him.
Things were looking a little bit grim.
-
Now they've both seen the strips of cloth lying there,
And the burial cloth folded neat like a towel.
Though they didn't understand what the scripture had said
But they believed it like, lock stock and barrel
-
So they both of them went back on home like,
But Mary she stayed back and cried.
And as she bent down to look In the tomb again,
She clocked two Angels sitting than inside.
-
As she looked there where Jesus had laid,
She saw them both sat there right neat.
One of them sat where Jesus' hand had been,
And the other where He'd had His feet.
-
They both looked at Mary who was crying like.
And said "What's up flower?" right sweet.
"Whatever are you crying for?".
But they never offered her a seat.
-
Owd Mary she answered right sad like.
"They've taken my Lord far away",
"And I don't know where they hidden him"
She didn't have owt else to say.
-
So she turned round to leave overcome like.
And she saw someone else standing there.
She didn't cotton on it was Jesus,
But thought it the gardener for the flowers to care.
-
"Woman why are you crying?"
"Who Is it that you're looking for".
"Oh sir tell me where you have put Him",
"And I will go get Him what's more".
-
"Mary" Jesus He answered her,
"Rabboni" she said In her own speech
Rabboni Is Aramaic for Teacher,
And by gum He can't half teach,
-
"Don't hug me Mary", He told her
"For I've not yet been to my Father Dad".
"But go tell what you've seen to my brothers",
So she did and that can't be bad.
-
Wall there's loads and loads more to tell you.
And one day I just might do.
But 'till then have a look In the Bible,
It's all there in Mark, Luke, John or Matthew.
