I would often chat with customers who came in the shop, after all isn't
that what makes a shop a Shop?
It's the personal touch that makes all the difference. And it never
costs any extra.
If you work in a shop give someone a big smile tomorrow. See what the
effect is.
INFLATION
-
I was serving a man in the shop the other day,
And I just thought I'd tell you what he had to say..
'Things aren't what they used to be', he said.
Pocketing his change, and wistfully shaking his head.
-
'Now take the price of milk'.
'Oh those stockings there, are they silk'?
'No not like they used to be anyway,
Now what was I about to say'?
-
'Oh yes, milk used to cost much less,
It's that Decimalisation what a mess.
You know the government can't get em right,
The state of the country what a plight'.
-
'Now when I were a lad, things were much better.
It didn't cost as much to post a letter,
Goodness, is that the time already,
I better get a move on I'm meeting our Eddie'.
-
'Cheerio he' said 'thanks for the chat'
'Goodbye, take care', and that was that.
But I couldn't help thinking, how negative he'd been.
Oh If only, If only he could have seen.
-
That what you say can have an effect,
On other people, so don't neglect,
To share a smile and an encouraging word,
After all, today, it might be the first one they've heard.
