The Christmas Gift
-
Two thousand years ago today,
A baby was born, cradled in a manger of hay.
Joseph and Mary meek and mild.
Sat watching, looking over this little child.
-
Angels took the glad tidings,
To shepherds in the field abiding.
And three wise men from afar,
Told how they were following a bright star.
-
They found the stable, and in they went.
Gold, frankincense, myrrh and a little lamb to present.
The ass and oxen looked at this most wonderful sight.
On this mysterious, and wondrous night.
-
We too can bring our gifts today,
Not in a manger full of hay,
Nor in a stable cold and bare, but here on Earth,
with worship, praise and verse,
For this is Jesus Christ, King of the Universe
