My story
-
Forty years I've been around,
Not done much, just covered ground.
Had some fun, spent some cash,
Drank some beer, smoked some hash.
-
Good job, nice house, car and kids,
Game for a laugh, iffy vids.
Done no great harm, a good best mate,
Fortune tellers told my fate.
-
I was on a roll, oh yes my lad,
Wouldn't admit to feeling sad.
'When's the next night out' I'd say,
Coz whisky sent the doubts away.
-
The problem was I had an itch,
It was one I couldn't ditch.
All I had was not enough,
I needed more, some other stuff.
-
And then it dawned :
-
The lottery would sort me out.
Money is what life's all about.
A fiver here, a fiver there,
Here I come Montpellier.
-
This itch it would not go away,
I felt that it was here to stay.
What could it be I needed so?
I really needed now to know.
-
'I know' I'll change my house I said,
To a nice little semi I was led.
Neighbours nice, but a little odd ,
She's always talking about her God.
-
One month later, the itch is worse,
It cant be silenced by my purse.
It's something deep within my heart,
Could it be, a brand new start ?
-
Very soon, I got bad news,
Comforts can't sort out these blues.
Children happy, they're at school,
But this cancer thing is so uncool.
-
Moneys no good, you can stick it,
We're batting here on a sticky wicket.
Woke up late one Sunday morning,
The itch was terrible, sense was dawning
-
Kids deployed to number six,
What times church? I need a fix.
Where do you go, what do I do,
Better still take me with you.
-
PLEASE
-
I went to church, He spoke to me,
"Don't you realise, don't you see?
Your itch is the growing of a tiny seed,
From me you see, IT'S ME YOU NEED".
-
You see
-
I'll never leave you, never fail,
I can't promise that through life you'll sail.
But I'll always, ALWAYS hold your hand,
And on my Word you can forever stand.
-
'I know the things you've done and said,
I've wiped them clean, they're gone, they're dead.
My Son died on the cross for you,
You're special to me whatever you do.
-
I'd change my past, my wasted years,
My made up smile, my drunken tears.
But I would not change my terrible itch,
For now I know I'm truly rich ?
-
I love you Lord, You know my heart,
Please never again let us part?
I need Your love, I need your Grace,
I need to see your loving face.
-
I thank you for the friends I've met,
Friends in you, the safest bet.
I wouldn't change a single thing,
Your praises Lord I want to sing.
-
I know you want me to be well,
But in your time all will tell.
What the future holds for me,
But in your arms I'll always be.
-
I LOVE YOU LORD.
