Having Fun
-
Well it's fun when you're a baby,
and you're splashing in the bath.
And it's fun when you wet everyone,
that really is a laugh.
And if you can wet the towel,
well that really is a treat.
'Cos they have to get another one,
to finish off your feet.
-
Well it's fun when you're a child,
and you're playing in the park.
And you pretend to throw the stick
'cos that really makes Patch bark.
But then, when you let go of it,
it sails on through the air,
and Patch jumps up and grabs it,
you haven't got a care.
-
Well it's fun when you're a teenager,
trying to forge your way.
and every single topic,
you've just got to have your say.
When you go out without a vest,
or scarf, or hat, or coat.
How come they think that they know best,
and talk like you know nowt?
-
Well it's fun when you're an adult,
grafting every hour.
And at work you've made your mark,
and gained a bit of power.
Of course you use it wisely,
like all good adults should.
But what people require of you,
is about as clear as mud.
-
Well it's fun when you retire,
and the Grandchildren come round.
And you tell them about the old days,
and they say they need a pound.
You enquire about the reason,
and all reason remains hid.
Well soon it'll be Euros,
that'll cost you more than a quid.
-
Well it's fun writing ditties,
with lines that end in rhyme.
It really doesn't take too long,
it's ideas that take the time.
And the purpose of this ditty,
covering life from birth to death.
Why it's having fun in living,
whilst you can still draw breath.
-
Well it's fun giving of yourself,
in all you say and do.
Thinking about others,
and helping them see too.
That Jesus gave His very life,
so that we might live.
And you'll live for eternity,
if your soul to Him you give.
