A Pair of Slippers
-
A lady came in the shop today,
to buy a pair of slippers.
She told me all about herself,
for tea she was having kippers.
-
For lunch she'd had sausage and beans,
and mash there was a plenty.
She'd met her Granddaughter in the cafe,
you know she's only twenty.
-
One Grandson's at University,
Studying computers.
The other one's away at sea,
they've both got very good futures;
-
Her husbands 73 next month,
but sprightly don't you know.
He's ever so good at gardening,
whatever he plants will grow.
-
My sister's a lot better now,
her eyes begin to glisten,
Thank you very much she says,
and all I did was listen.
-
Wouldn't it be nice if we all listened more?
